We headed back to Kyoto to try and find some geishas in the Gion area.
Not sure where we took this picture but it might be on Hanamikoji.

|
When we got to this street, See Ming insisted we must be at the right place to see geishas because
the Chinese words translated to something like "Flower-watching little street".
|
|
It looked pretty ordinary at first...

But when we got to the middle of the street, we saw a lot of other tourists standing around.
Some were Caucasian, some were Chinese. We heard one lady asking her friend in Cantonese, "Have you seen one yet?"
We hung around for a few minutes and then one geisha appeared and everyone formed a circle around her and cameras started snapping.
She ignored all of us and just kept on walking.

After awhile, we got bored and started looking for food. We followed the guidebook to the slightly seedier part of Gion and ate
at what we would later come to know as an izakaya.
