Day 8 - June 3, 2006: Nakameguro and Akihabara Electric Town.

First things first - we got out of that smelly hotel and checked into the Century Southern Tower hotel in Shinjuku. Very classy place. This is not a great picture, but it's the view out of the lobby.
Time to see the city.
She suburb of Nakameguro is supposed to have some of the best shopping in town for ladies. We didn't find anything but we took a few random pictures.
Quite often, between the tall buildings, we'd see a little shrine.
No trip to Tokyo is complete without a visit to the geek Mecca of Akihabara Electric Town, so that's where we went next. You can really find all the latest electronic gizmos here. I bought See Ming an extra 1Gb memory card for her camera. (She shall be needing it tomorrow).
I also offered to buy her some new clothes but she declined.
A whole building selling nothing but Anime paraphernalia. We're going in.
For the Mecha (giant robot) modeller, all kinds of accessories in insane levels of detail are available here.
You can also find all sorts of hands, feet, and internal joints to pimp out your model.
Our next stop was R/C Champ - famous for having the lowest prices on the Internet for all Japanese radio-controlled model kits and accessories. We'll take a look inside but we don't necessarily have to buy anything.
Yeah right! See that basket I'm holding? You can pick one up as you walk in the door. The prices are so low here, chances are you'll need two baskets.
TN Racing's aftermarket carbon fibre chassis for Tamiya's TA-05 touring car. 15750 Yen.
We had dinner at a yakiniku-ya called Yakiniku Sakai. It was sort of like Korean-style barbecue. The beef was delicious. For the rest of the trip, we pretty much spent almost every meal looking for yakiniku-yas.
This is the lounge area of an Internet cafe.
See Ming clearing off one weeks worth of spam. We had a private little cubicle to ourselves. 300 Yen bought us half an hour on two computer terminals. We had to wait a few minutes for the guy to set the keyboards to English.
Time to head back to the hotel. This is the view out of the train. This could be anywhere in Tokyo.
Our hotel room.
What I bought today.
