| Taking a break from Tokyo, we head up to the mountain village of Takayama in Hida province this morning. |
| The view outside our hotel window in Tokyo. |
At the train station again. We are actually heading westward back towards Nagoya so you could say we could have planned our travel routes more efficiently, but the speed and comfort of the bullet trains make all the travelling quite pleasant. |
| The train station police was a little guy with a big stick standing on a box. |
At Nagoya, we took a slower train up the mountain and got some pictures of the scenery. |
| Eventually, we arrived at Takayama. |
See Ming got very hungry so we ate at this Western-style cafe. The food was barely edible. Time to look for another restaurant. |
| We walked around a bit and found a yakiniku place called Yakiniku No Rokubee. Hida is famous for its beef, and after our first taste, we could certainly see why. We couldn't get enough of this stuff. |
It was already late in the afternoon so there wasn't all that much to do. We just walked around and took pictures until it got dark. | |
