I got this charger when I gave up on NiMH cells and went the LiPo route. |
The charger comes with its own power supply, which makes the whole unit slightly bulkier than its older brother the BC5, but overall, it has saved me a lot of space and weight in my pit bag and on the pit table. I had to come up with a small harness to plug the battery to the 3 battery tubes on the Team Orion Carbon. The charge rate can only go up to 5 Amps, but is more than sufficient to charge most of today's LiPos at their recommended maximum rate (usually at 1C). There is an option to charge lipos for storage (charge them half full), but I never use that since Team Orion recommends keeping their lipos at full charge. The charger has a built-in balancer which means it can balance the cells while charging (in the balance charge mode). Team Orion claims the Carbon doesn't need balancing but I always charge in balance mode since its just as fast as charging in normal lipo mode.
The charger is a little pricey but has worked flawlessly since I bought it half a year ago.
